D, I'm so glad that in this brain-mangling new world of ours, the simple pleasure of hearing a song you love on the radio means so much. Ghosts is a great album, and in retrospect the sexy transparent vinyl should have probably seen it sneak into my top 10...
Thanks for the tips - that's EXACTLY what this site should be for - I've been enjoying Teenanger's tunes on their myspace and will be seeking out that TE sampler.
Sorry to hear about the redundo-mare, there's a lot of it about these days and it's not much fun, but like everyone's favourite band of Geography teachers say, you gotta stay positive.
Keep the tips coming! H

Harry, i literally lost my mind when you played Fix My Brain on the show. not literally, obviously, but... you get my point. the Marked Men have been my favourite band (On the Outside is my favourite album of theirs, thanks for asking) for a long time now and it was incredible to hear them being played on the radio. so THANK YOU for playing FMB - you played Hot Snakes earlier so i had a little hope that the MM would show up eventually. i expected to see Ghosts somewhere in your top 10 albums of 2009 and almost broke out crying when i saw that they were nowhere to be found, but the mention of Fortune kept me from the cliff's edge. i don't know why it should be so dramatic, it's your blinking list, you can put whatever you want on it. anyway.
there's a great free sampler i think you'd like from a label called Telephone Explosion based out of Toronto featuring lots of awesome garage bands - http://www.telephoneexplosion.com/?p=650 - http://www.sendspace.com/file/92lt44 - specifically, this band called teen anger (or teenanger, sheesh, i don't know - http://www.myspace.com/teenangerrr) who played here in halifax (east coast of canada - sorry if this sounds condescending, i don't know how much you know about canada) a while ago and who i've been in love with for a long time. i've even taken to watching youtube videos of theirs to learn the bass riffs of songs that aren't on itunes or on their myspace so i can entertain myself. ridiculous. anyway, they're similar to the jacuzzi boys and you can find their split lp on itunes.
keep this blogging thing up! i'm still depressed that the steve show's over and this site is lifting my spirits ever so slightly. plus, do you have anything better to do with your time? alright, calm down, i'm only kidding.
oh, and as a not-so-hilarious coincidence, i just thought i'd mention that i also work for a bank and i (along with 28 other people) will be made redundant in the next few months. we aren't so different, you and i!
