So, money for charity goes directly to charity. At least I'm assuming so. I mean, Simon Cowell has sticky fingers but I'm assuming he wouldn't make the leap from villainy to cartoonish professional wrestling caliber super-villainy. After all, for every one terrible song whose proceeds go to charity there are thousands of bad songs whose proceeds only go to keeping the "Kid Rock"s of the world in booze, gold-plated fur coats and "pimped out" limousines for another year. That's not so much "looking at the bright side" as looking at the even darker side to make the first side appear brighter by contrast.
